The following are typical settings for the Modem Preferences window.
Pause string: The
number of commas dictate how long the program waits after dailing before sending the page.
Default page number: This is the default number you want to send as the page. You can modify this on the page late customers window before sending pages.
PIN # Pause string: The number of commas entered here dictate how long the program waits between dialing the prefix (usually an 800 number) and dialing the pager's PIN number when paging a PIN number pager.
Hangup Delay: This is the number of seconds that the program waits from the time the call is placed until it hangs up. You may need to adjust this number along with the settings for the Pause string and the PIN # pause string to suit your system. For example, if you find that the modem is hanging up before the page is complete, you will need to increase the number of seconds in the hangup delay.
Local area code: This is the area code for your location. The program
removes the local area code from the pager number before dialing. If you have a situation
where some numbers in your local area code require the area code to be placed, then leave
this section blank, anf enter area codes for those numbers in your local area code ONLY
WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED- otherwise, enter just the 7 digit beeper number. Additionally, when
the program sees a number with 10 digits or more, it will automatically add the '1' if
needed.
NOTE: If you have upgraded from a previous version, this box
will have bad information in it. You will need to enter your local area code, or erase the
box.
Prefix to dial for outside line: Use this box to indicate any codes you need to dial to
access your outside phone line, if any. For axample, to turn off call waiting, you would
use '*70,' or if you need to dial a 9 to get through a pbx system, then enter '9,' in this
box.
NOTE: If you have upgraded from a previous version, this box
will have bad information in it. You will need to enter the appropriate dialing code, or
erase this box.

the new Page Late program. If you need to modify your choices, you can access this window
